Setting up a maintenance schedule for your church building and grounds does not have to be an overwhelming task. The first step is to make a list of all the systems that need to be maintained in your building (heating, cooling, security, etc.). This will be different for each church. When you create a seasonal calendar of maintenance tasks (your checklist), you will need to add one or more systems to the calendar for each season, and schedule professional inspection and maintenance of that system to take place during that time of year. Heating systems should be inspected by a professional in the fall, for instance. Create a simple checklist for each season, for starters, and add tasks as necessary. Get started today!
Here is a simple checklist for summer:
Clean and Care for Brick and Paved Walkways
Inspect Siding and clean/remove mold or moss growth
Inspect and clean Crawlspace
Remove Vegetation growth that touches building
Check and Lubricate Door Hinges and Hardware
Remove Rust on Railings
Clean Faucet Heads
Change Furnace Filters
Test Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Detectors
Professional Inspection of Security System (or other)
